EYFS

Beech Class includes our Reception pupils, where we follow the Early Years Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This framework sets out the requirements for learning and development in the early years and outlines the prime areas of learning we cover:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development

  • Physical Development

  • Communication and LanguageAnd the specific areas of learning we cover:

  • Literacy

  • Mathematics

  • Understanding the World

  • Expressive Arts and Design

A key part of developing essential knowledge and skills is Continuous Provision. This means children are learning and practicing important skills every day and week throughout the year.

Through Continuous Provision, children develop:

  • Independence – learning to manage tasks and make choices

  • Innovation and Creativity – exploring ideas and expressing themselves

  • Enquiry and Problem-Solving – asking questions and finding solutions

  • Analysis Skills – thinking critically about what they observe and learn

We have carefully designed our Continuous Provision to feed seamlessly into Key Stage 1, ensuring that children build strong foundations and make clear connections in their learning from the very start of their school journey.
