Promoting British Values at Wrangle Primary Academy

At Wrangle Primary Academy, the fundamental British values set out by the Department for Education are already part of our curriculum, our Academy Council, and our links with the wider community.

We believe these values are important for helping our children grow into responsible, respectful, and active citizens. We make them clear and meaningful in school life, so pupils can understand and live by them.

The Fundamental British Values

1. Democracy
Children learn that everyone has a voice and that their opinions matter.

  • Pupils take part in class discussions and votes.

  • Our Academy Council is elected by the children and helps to make decisions in school.

2. The Rule of Law
Children understand the importance of rules for keeping everyone safe and happy.

  • School rules are agreed together and applied fairly.

  • Visits from the police and other services help pupils see how laws work in the wider community.

3. Individual Liberty
Children are encouraged to make choices and develop independence in a safe, supportive environment.

  • Pupils are given opportunities to choose their own learning challenges.

  • We teach children about rights, responsibilities, and making safe choices.

4. Mutual Respect
Children learn to treat others with kindness and consideration.

  • Respect is a key part of our school rules and daily life.

  • Pupils celebrate each other’s achievements and differences.

5. Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs
Children are taught to value diversity and to respect others’ beliefs.

  • Pupils learn about different religions and cultures through lessons, celebrations, and visitors.

  • We encourage open discussions where children can ask questions and learn from one another.

At Wrangle Primary Academy, we don’t just talk about these values — we live them every day so that our children grow up to be respectful, confident, and caring members of society.
